Marian House
A warm community providing expert nursing, dementia, residential and respite care.
At Marian House, we celebrate and embrace the richness of different cultures within our community 🌍🤝
Today, Tharul has kindly shared traditional treats such as kokis, alua, and kaum 🍪🍯 as part of the Sinhala and Tamil New Year celebrations 🎉.
Observed in April 🌸, the Sinhala and Tamil New Year is a joyful occasion that highlights cultural heritage, renewal, and togetherness ✨
Families come together to prepare traditional foods, take part in meaningful customs, and exchange good wishes for the year ahead 💫
The celebrations are filled with games 🎲, music 🎶, and vibrant traditions 🎨 that symbolize prosperity, unity, and hope 🌟
It is a special time that brings people closer, fostering a sense of community, respect, and shared joy ❤️😊
Thank you for sharing this with us Tharul ⭐

This morning we got our hands dirty sowing seeds 🌱
We planted lavender, night-scented stock, gladioli and foxgloves 🌺 — all with the goal of making our garden a haven for pollinators 🐝🦋
With bees and other pollinators in decline, even small actions like this can make a real difference. By planting flowers that provide food throughout the seasons, we’re helping support not just insects, but birds too 🐦
A little effort in the garden can go a long way for nature 💚

We had a lovely arts and crafts afternoon here at Marian House painting bird boxes 🎨🐦
It might be a little late in the year, but you never know—we may still get some mommy birds choosing to make a home in our beautifully decorated boxes! Everyone had a wonderful time getting creative, adding their own unique colours and designs.
Fingers crossed we’ll soon see some feathered visitors moving in! 🏡💛
